Portfolios & Art…
Getting smaller & smaller
I’ve always been impressed how my portfolios keep getting smaller & smaller.
My first portfolios were the ones on the left… and they kept shrinking, until now they’re just digital entirely. Sort of like the digital age… just taking everything over.
Here’s an example of my drawing on location… where I get to the location and then draw something entirely different. That’s what I do… I don’t know how people can keep their art in little sketch books… that entire notion drives me nuts.
I have a theory that as long as I’ve filled my spare wall space with paintings, I might not make any new paintings… I have to find a way around that, I think.
In college, I went through a phase of making mobiles… they were fun and I liked how they moved around so slowly… always moving. Once I filled a whole room with them. I could see using durable materials might keep them going for years.
But lately, things have been so awful that I retreat from trying to work the miracle of making things. It’s also okay to just relax… I hope. Like this armchair in the woods, which I painted after going to Yellowstone.

I have that exact giant portfolio from 1998! ☺️
